Hyderabad: A family’s return home after attending a relative’s 10th-day death ceremony ended in tragedy when the car they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into an open well at Appanapalli village in Dubbak mandal late on Wednesday night. A couple and their two young children drowned in the accident.The deceased were identified as Dandugula Raju (30), a sand trader from Balwanthapur, his wife Bhagya (25), their four-year-old son Nihan and two-year-old daughter Shanvika.According to Dubbak SI K Kerthiraju, Raju had travelled with his wife and children to Siddipet to attend a relative’s 10th-day ceremony. After the programme, the family left for Balwanthapur in their car. While they were passing through the outskirts of Appanapalli, the vehicle reportedly went out of control and plunged into a roadside well.The family members became worried when Raju and his family did not reach home even after it became late. They alerted the police, following which personnel began efforts to trace the family. Police reportedly tracked the mobile phone signal and located it in the Appanapalli outskirts.When police reached the area, they found that the car had crashed into the well. Rescue personnel and firefighters were alerted and reached the spot. A crane was used to pull the vehicle out of the well.Raju, Bhagya and their two children were found dead inside the car. Their bodies were shifted to a regional hospital in Dubbak for postmortem.Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident, including why the car veered off the road. The deaths of all four members of the family have cast a pall of gloom over Balwanthapur and Appanapalli villages.
