Jhunjhunu: Four masked men allegedly attempted to loot an ICICI Bank ATM in Fatehpur town in Sikar district Tuesday, but fled after a passerby spotted them cutting the ATM with a gas cutter. No cash was looted in the incident.The accused arrived at the ATM near Chungi Naka Sardarpura Bus Stand in a Brezza car around 2am and had already cut one side of the ATM when Diler Khan, a resident of Dadunda, noticed suspicious activity while on his way to a hospital. He alerted an acquaintance, who informed Fatehpur police.Fatehpur SHO Mahendra Meena reached the spot with a police team within minutes. The accused fled in their car on seeing the police and locals. Khan followed them for about 8km and noted down the vehicle’s registration number, which he later handed over to police.Police from Fatehpur and Laxmangarh, along with the RTO team, launched a search for the vehicle. They are examining CCTV footage and the registration number to identify and trace the accused.Police said the targeted ATM had reportedly been non-operational for about a month. The accused were allegedly attempting to cut it open and access the cash inside.
