ACB catches mandi employee accepting Rs 24k bribe in Udaipur

Udaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Wednesday arrested an employee of Krishi Upaj Mandi, Savina in Udaipur district while allegedly accepting a Rs 24,000 bribe from a flour mill operator.ACB director general of police Govind Gupta said the complainant, who operates a flour mill in Kattabas, had alleged that Mohanlal, an employee at the mandi office, had been stopping wheat-laden tractors of traders associated with him since March and demanding that bills be immediately presented at the chowki. He allegedly threatened to issue challans if the bills were not produced. The complainant alleged that Mohanlal demanded a monthly bribe, purportedly in the name of then Mandi secretary Madan Gurjar, in exchange for not checking the traders’ tractors, issuing challans or imposing penalties under the Rajasthan Krishi Upaj Mandi Rules for not producing copies of wheat purchase bills.According to the complaint, Mohanlal had earlier allegedly demanded and received Rs 65,000 for the period from April 2025 to March 2026. He subsequently demanded another bribe for the four-month period from April to July 2026.After verifying the bribe demand, the ACB laid a trap and caught Mohanlal red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant. The accused is being questioned and further investigation is underway. A case will be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the ACB said.
