Over 1,600 compete in 101st Punjab State Junior Athletics Championship
The meet featured track and field competitions across U-14, U-16, U-18, and U-20 age categories for both boys and girls.

Ludhiana: Over 1,600 young athletes from across Punjab participated in the 101st Punjab State Junior Athletics Championship 2026, which concluded at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana.Organised by the District Athletics Association under the Punjab Athletic Association, the three-day championship ran from August 16 to 18. The meet featured track and field competitions across U-14, U-16, U-18, and U-20 age categories for both boys and girls.On the final day, Gurpreet Kamboj from Fazilka won the U-20 boys’ 3,000m race, followed by Amritsar’s Karanvir Singh in second and Fatehgarh Sahib’s Gurpreet Singh in third. In the U-20 girls’ 3,000m event, Harbinder Kaur from Barnala secured first place, while her district counterpart Karamjit placed second and Hoshiarpur’s Dimple Kumari took third.In field events, Ropar’s Manreet Kaur won the U-16 girls’ long jump, ahead of Jannat Dua in second and Bathinda’s Samreet Kaur in third. The U-16 boys’ high jump saw Jashanpreet Singh from Ferozepur take first place, followed by Ropar’s Dev Vishavjit Singh in second and Ludhiana’s Ishnoor Chawla in third. In the U-16 boys’ shot put, Charanjot Singh Malhotra from Moga secured first place, Amritsar’s Harnidh Singh placed second, and Gurdaspur’s Jaskaranpreet Bhinder finished third.In the U-16 girls’ javelin throw, Fazilka athletes dominated, with Madhavi Kaur taking first and Manreet taking second, while Ludhiana’s Lakhveer Kaur and Sangrur’s Navreet Kaur shared third place. In the U-14 boys’ javelin throw, Ropar’s Daljeet Singh took first place, SBS Nagar’s Harkirat finished second, and Ludhiana’s Satguntej Singh Jhajj placed third.
