CHENNAI: VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Tuesday said chief minister C Joseph Vijay informed him that the TVK is making efforts to convene the next round of talks with leaders of its allies to form a new alliance. The meeting will take place after the ongoing assembly session, which will end on Sept 8.“The ruling party has already convened the first round of talks with allies (in Mamallapuram). The CM told me that efforts are being made to hold the second round of talks with allies and friendly parties regarding the formation of the new alliance. It will take place after the assembly session,” he told reporters at the secretariat after calling on the CM.Referring to the party’s conference Ulundurpet on Monday, Thirumavalavan said, “I proclaimed at the conference that the VCK would continue its journey with TVK. All these years, VCK was part of the alliance of ruling parties. Now, it is part of the govt as it holds a role in the cabinet. This paved the way for the party to emerge as a ruling party, and I thank the people of the state for that.”He submitted a copy of the resolutions passed at the Ulundurpet conference to Vijay. He declined to comment on a question comparing the VCK’s relationship with the previous DMK govt and the current administration, stating it was “unfair to compare” since the present govt is still young. Pointing out that the govt had completed 100 days, he added that the VCK would support the administration so it could complete its full tenure without disruption. “I commended the CM for passing resolutions on Tamil Thai Vazhthu and delimitation,” he said.
