Pune: Unidentified cybercrooks stole Rs3.96 lakh from a city-based rubber firm last month. The firm’s senior marketing manager lodged a complaint with the Airport police on Saturday.An airport police officer said on July 22 that the complainant’s colleague received an email seeking information for registration as a vendor with a Gujarat-based company. Details were then shared via email.“The complainant’s company then received a vendor registration form along with a bank account number for fee payment,” the officer said.The firm’s accounts department transferred Rs3.96 lakh on July 30, he said. The next day, another email sought a deposit of Rs6.33 lakh, stating that the Gujarat-based company had floated a tender worth Rs2.11 crore.“Suspicious of this, the complainant contacted the Gujarat-based company’s office. He learnt that the company had never asked for any money and that it was not its policy to seek such payments,” the officer said.The complainant realised that he had been duped and approached the police, he added.
