Aspirants anxious as UGC NET retest announced for sociology, commerce and English

Lucknow: Candidates expressed concern after authorities announced a Sept retest for the UGC NET papers in sociology, commerce and English. The examinations were cancelled after multiple errors were reported in the question papers, including typographical mistakes, factual inaccuracies and translation problems, prompting fresh dates for affected subjects.Aspirants said the decision has cost them time, money and momentum after months of preparation. Sociology candidate Aryan Sharma said many students had studied relentlessly and felt confident of securing strong marks, but now believe their effort has been undermined and they must restart preparation, adding to mental stress.English candidate Arsalan Ahmed said that after earlier anxieties over alleged paper leaks, students are now being asked to sit again because of printing, factual and translation lapses. He argued that candidates were not responsible for such mistakes and should not be forced to bear repeated disruptions.Sociology aspirant Nikita Bhatnagar highlighted the additional financial pressure, citing expenses already incurred on coaching, study material, travel and the examination form.Commerce candidate Anirudh Agarwal said students were waiting for results and planning next steps, but the retest will delay timelines and could impact admissions and academic schedules. He added that taking competitive exams has increasingly become difficult.
