GM highlights NER achievements on I-Day

Gorakhpur: After unfurling the national flag at Syed Modi Railway Stadium here on Independence Day, North Eastern Railway general manager Uday Borwankar highlighted key achievements of NER, including completion of around 26 km of doubling and third-line works, commissioning of eight new trains and extension of three services. He said, 6.64 crore passengers travelled from NER stations, generating nearly Rs 1,200 crore in revenue, up 17.5% year-on-year. He reviewed a parade by RPF personnel, Civil Defence volunteers, Scouts and Guides, and railway school students.Borwankar said 107 km of complete track renewal and 126 km of rail renewal had been completed, while six level crossings were eliminated. No consequential train accident was reported in 2026-27 so far.The GM also highlighted installation of escalators, lifts, FOBs and passenger information systems, along with 16 MW of solar capacity and plantation of 80,000 saplings.He praised NER employees for their contribution and stressed safety, passenger amenities, staff welfare and transparency. Three RPF personnel were awarded police medals on Independence Day.The event also featured cultural programmes, plantation drives and welfare activities at railway facilities.
