NOIDA: The three development authorities — Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna — along with NHAI, recently held a meeting and approved the extension of the proposed Yamuna Pushta Elevated Road from 31 km to 50 km, taking it closer to Noida International Airport. The project cost is estimated at Rs 4,000 crore. NHAI is now preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will develop the project, which will serve as a key alternative route to both the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway. As per the earlier plan, a 31-km-long eight-lane elevated corridor was proposed along the Yamuna Pushta, connecting Noida Sector 94 with Greater Noida before merging with the Yamuna Expressway in Chi IV near Gautam Buddha University.AK Arora, General Manager, Noida Authority, said the move was taken in anticipation of a rise in traffic on the Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway due to the airport. “From Chi IV, the elevated road will pass through Gharbhara, Mursadpur, YEIDA’s Sectors 27, 26, 24 and 24A, and then connect to the Faridabad-Jewar Greenfield Expressway in Sector 23C,” he said. The Faridabad-Jewar Expressway is nearly 75% complete and is expected to be ready by May next year. The eight-lane Pushta Elevated Road is being planned as an alternative to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, which is expected to witness a significant rise in traffic following the commencement of flight operations at Noida International Airport. The elevated road will begin near the Okhla Barrage in Sector 94 and run parallel to the Yamuna embankment before joining the Yamuna Expressway. The alignment will pass through Sectors 95, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 132, 133, 134 and 135, covering areas that include corporate offices, premium residential sectors and several villages.Noida Authority is also constructing the 5.5-km-long Chilla Elevated Road project, which is around 55% complete and is expected to be operational by July 2027. The six-lane corridor will connect the Chilla Regulator near Mayur Vihar with the Mahamaya Flyover in Noida.Since the Chilla Elevated Road will terminate near the Mahamaya Flyover, the authority is planning another 1.4-km elevated link road to connect it with the Yamuna Pushta Road and the proposed elevated corridor along the embankment. Together, the three projects are expected to create an alternative high-speed route to the Noida Expressway and facilitate seamless commuting between Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida.
