Ailing youth ends life on rly tracks

Lucknow: A 22-year-old man died after jumping in front of a moving train in Lucknow’s Nigohan area on Saturday. His family said he was struggling with a serious illness for a prolonged period.The incident took place in Sherpur Lawal village under Nigohan police station limits. The deceased, identified as Shivam, was the elder son of mason Ram Milan.According to the family, Shivam had been suffering from oral cancer for quite some time. Despite undergoing treatment, he remained distressed over his condition and lack of improvement.Family members said Shivam left home on Saturday morning, saying he was going out to relieve himself.A short while later, residents reported that a man had been struck by a train between Shrirajnagar and Nigohan railway stations. Eyewitnesses told police that Shivam moved onto the railway track and threw himself in front of a speeding train, dying on the spot.The incident was reported to Govt Railway Police and Nigohan police. GRP sent the body for post mortem.Shivam was unmarried and is survived, besides his father, by his mother Madhuri and brother Karan, said Nigohan SHO Ravindra Kumar.
