Rajkot: Nine men were arrested after a Rajkot police team raided a hotel room on the Jetpur-Junagadh highway and allegedly caught them gambling with cards on Saturday. Police seized Rs 12.3 lakh in cash, along with vehicles and mobile phones, taking the total value of the confiscated property to Rs 41.3 lakh.The raid was conducted by a team under supervision of Rajkot Range DIG Nirlipt Rai at Vraj Vatika Hotel following specific intelligence that a man identified as Paresh alias Butter was inviting people to gamble.Acting on the information, sub-inspector B C Miyatra and his team raided a room at the hotel, which is owned by Dipak Polara. Police found nine men allegedly playing ‘Teen Patti’, a luck-based card game.According to police, those arrested include Paresh alias Butter Kachhadiya along with others from Jetpur, Khambhaliya, Kutiyana, Porbandar and Junagadh.A case under the Gambling Prevention Act was registered against all nine accused at Jetpur Taluka police station in Rajkot rural. Police also launched an investigation into the alleged role of hotel owner and others suspected to be involved in the gambling operation.
