New Delhi: A 22-year-old makeup artist was allegedly raped twice by a man she befriended on social media in north Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar. Police have arrested the accused and sent him to judicial custody.According to police, the woman, a resident of Wazirabad, came in contact with the accused last year after he introduced himself as a makeup artist. She alleged that he invited her to a Mukherjee Nagar hotel in July, claiming he would introduce her to people in the makeup industry. There, he allegedly served her a cold drink laced with an intoxicating substance, raped her and later promised to marry her to dissuade her from approaching the police.The woman further alleged that on Aug 8, the accused took her to another hotel, where he again sexually assaulted her after threatening to kill her when she resisted. Her condition deteriorated during the assault, following which the accused allegedly fled, leaving her behind. Hotel staff alerted police, who shifted the woman to a hospital; her condition is reported to be stable now.
