Mobile health units to reach mothers, teens in 35 UP districts

Lucknow: Two Hinduja mobile health units were flagged off in Lucknow on Friday to take maternal and adolescent healthcare services closer to vulnerable communities across 35 districts of UP.The units were launched jointly by State Transformation Commission (STC), UP govt and PD Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre. The event also marked the state launch of the national campaign, ‘Saving Lives, Building a Healthier Bharat’, and the signing of an MoU between STC and the hospital for a dedicated maternal and adolescent healthcare programme.The units will screen pregnant and lactating women, provide counselling and refer those requiring specialised care to higher health facilities.The adolescent health programme will cover students aged 11-19 in govt schools, with screening for conditions including anaemia and Type-1 diabetes, besides health education and counselling.Group president of corporate affairs at Hinduja Group, Dr SK Chadda said the initiative would take healthcare to women and adolescents who may face difficulties accessing institutional care.Chairperson, PD Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Ashok P Hinduja said the initiative reflected the group’s belief that healthcare should be accessible to every citizen.STC CEO Manoj Kumar Singh said doctors from PD Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, would work alongside UP healthcare teams. The units will provide screening, medicines, counselling and referral support, while STC-UP will facilitate district-level coordination and access to govt schools.Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, ACS medical and health Amit Kumar Ghosh, RMLIMS director Prof CM Singh and Seychelles high commissioner Harisoa Lalatiana Accouche were among those present.
