Zen Technologies delivers AI-enabled containerised firing range to Indian Navy

Hyderabad: Zen Technologies said the Indian Navy has commissioned India’s first AI-enabled containerised small arms firing range (CSAFR), which was developed and installed by the Hyderabad-based company, to strengthen live-fire training for maritime and shore-based security operations.Zen Technologies said it had delivered the system ahead of schedule in a compressed timeframe. Conceptualised by the Navy and built by Zen, the CSAFR brings realistic small-arms training to operational locations, reducing dependence on conventional outdoor ranges that are constrained by land availability, weather, travel distance, urbanisation and logistics costs. The range is designed for training linked to security of naval shore establishments, low-intensity maritime operations, ship boarding and fleet protection measures. It allows teams to rehearse customised maritime combat scenarios and engage fast-moving targets, including high-speed boats, the company said.Zen said the system features a zero-danger area design and low-noise signature, enabling safe live firing in dense urban settings. It supports round-the-clock, all-weather training, including night and low-visibility firing. Multiple personnel can engage moving targets simultaneously, while the system generates individual performance scores and analytics.According to the company, the CSAFR can enable 100 soldiers to complete the annual qualification course in one day, compared with five days on a conventional outdoor range, improving training efficiency while retaining live-fire realism.Ashok Atluri, chairman and managing director, Zen Technologies, said the project delivered “a safe, realistic and always-available live-fire training capability” and could help redefine small-arms training for Indian and international defence forces through advanced, deployable training infrastructure solutions.
