NEW DELHI: A 12-year-old schoolgirl died after the scooter she was travelling on was hit by a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus in East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar on Friday morning, police said.The girl, identified as Kayna Pal, was on her way to school when the accident occurred around 8am.According to police, Kayna was riding pillion on a scooter with her uncle when the two-wheeler was hit by the DTC bus. She fell under the bus and was crushed by its wheels. She was declared dead at the spot.Kayna was a Class 8 student at a government school in Khichripur.Her father, Aman Pal, said, “… Her name was Kayna Pal. She girl was on her way to school with her younger brother when the DTC bus hit the scooter. She was in East Point School…”Police have apprehended the DTC bus driver in connection with the accident. Passengers were inside the bus when the incident took place.Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the collision and the exact sequence of events.The incident took place in New Ashok Nagar around 8am, when the girl was travelling towards school. The collision left Kayna trapped under the bus, resulting in fatal injuries.Further investigation is underway.
