Jaipur: With the statewide Hindi reading assessment for Classes 3 to 8 facing technical hurdles in govt schools, due to audio-upload issues on Shala Darpan app, the education department has extended the deadline for submission of results from Aug 12 to Aug 18.A TOI ground check at four schools Wednesday found that only about 37% of students had completed the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) assessment. Teachers said technical glitches were eating into regular teaching time, with some having to move outdoors or around the campus to find better internet connectivity.The assessment, conducted under the Mukhyamantri Shikshit Rajasthan Abhiyan, requires students to read passages aloud while the app records their audio. The results will be used to identify students needing additional support and plan remedial classes.At Govt Upper Primary School, Kartarpura, completion ranged from 11% in Class 5 to 73% in Class 8. At Govt Senior Secondary School, Bias Godam, it ranged from 8% in Class 7 to 91% in Class 5.A teacher at Bias Godam said, “We have to do it in the open area as there is no network in the classroom. We had to discontinue classes and sit downstairs to conduct it.”The assessment had been completed for all students of Classes 6 to 8 at Govt Girls Senior Secondary School, C-Scheme, which had only 32 students across the three classes.At Mahatma Gandhi Govt School, Residency, the problem was more acute, with teachers saying they could assess only two to three students over two daysA teacher at the Mahatma Gandhi Govt School, Residency, said, “Last year, the Hindi ORF assessment was completed in 30 minutes. This time, we are facing difficulties.”
