Mohali: With Independence Day just around the corner, Mohali Thursday held its final full-dress rehearsal, bringing together police personnel, NCC cadets and students for a preview of the district’s Aug 15 celebrations.Deputy commissioner Komal Mittal and SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans inspected arrangements at Shaheed Major Harminder Pal Singh Govt College, Phase 6, where 12 educational institutions participated in the rehearsal. The parade was led by DSP Kharar Ishan Singla.Alongside the march past, students presented patriotic cultural programmes, PT displays and other performances, infusing the venue with Independence Day spirit.Mittal reviewed preparations for seating, traffic management, sanitation, power supply, medical aid and security, directing departments to ensure all arrangements are completed well before the main event. Hans separately assessed security and traffic plans and instructed police officials to ensure smooth movement and adequate deployment during the celebrations.Punjab PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh will be the chief guest at the district-level function and will unfurl the national flag on Aug 15.
