Gurgaon: An FIR has been registered at Sector 53 police station after the president of a housing society in Sector 52 had alleged that there had been a firing incident inside one of the lifts in his society. He had also claimed that people carrying weapons have been visiting a flat in the complex frequently.Prashant Co-operative Group Housing Society president Narender Singh had submitted the complaint against unidentified persons on Aug 12, along with the CCTV footage of the firing. He told TOI that he was out of station on the night of firing but when he returned, his neighbours informed him that around 1am a gun had been fired inside the lift of Plot GH-26 on Aug 9.“Residents were afraid to take up the matter with the police, but they approached me, following which I checked the CCTV and submitted all the available evidence with the cops. It seems that they fired one or two rounds,” he said. The residents noticed that the lift had been damaged when they came across it, he added.Singh, in his complaint, has sought a police inquiry into the armed men visiting a flat in the society. Singh said the incident has caused fear among residents, particularly women, children and elderly people.SHO of Sector 53 police station, inspector Narender Sharma, said, “We are investigating the complaint and will take appropriate legal action in the case accordingly.” While the police have registered a case under the Arms Act against an unknown person, sources said a suspect has been identified.
