Rajkot: A schoolteacher and mother of a two-year-old boy died after she fell from a Rapido motorcycle while riding home on Wednesday and was crushed under a passing fuel tanker on Sheetal Park Main Road. Police launched a search for the tanker driver, who fled the scene.Priyanka Doshi, 28, was riding pillion on a Rapido motorcycle driven by Shivam Chavda, going to her home from the Nachiketa School area when the accident occurred near the corner of RK Heights.According to police, a dog suddenly crossed in front of the motorcycle. Chavda braked hard, causing the two-wheeler to lose balance. Doshi fell onto the road along with the motorcycle.A fuel tanker passing the spot ran over her left leg and waist with its rear wheel. The tanker driver left the scene with the vehicle.Chavda alerted Doshi’s family, after which she was rushed to Rajkot Civil Hospital, where she died during treatment.Her father, Yogesh Doshi, 61, a resident of the Raiya Road area, lodged a complaint with Gandhigram police station against the unidentified tanker driver for causing death by negligence, rash driving and offences under the Motor Vehicles Act.Investigators said Doshi worked as a teacher at a private school. She is survived by her two-year-old son.
