Tehatta (Nadia): Two farmers from Nadia’s Tehatta, who were allegedly abducted by Bangladeshi nationals and handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), returned home on Tuesday following a flag meeting between the BSF and BGB.The incident occurred near the Nafarchandrapur BSF camp when Sachin Das and Narottam Biswas crossed Gate No. 64 to harvest jute. They were allegedly dragged across the border and handed over to the Ichakhali BGB camp in Meherpur. The incident followed the BSF’s detention of 70-year-old Bangladeshi national Abdul Mannan for illegal entry and suspicious movement. As news spread, around 1,000 Indians gathered on the Tehatta border while nearly 300 Bangladeshi nationals assembled on the opposite side.“I was working as an agricultural labourer. I do not own any land there. We were taken forcibly from the Indian side of the border and handed over to the BGB,” said Narottam Biswas.
