Ahmedabad: Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has released the teaching framework, monthly academic plan and question paper pattern for the newly introduced Computer subject for Classes 9 and 11, more than two months after the commencement of the 2026-27 academic session.The subject has been introduced with an updated curriculum. Although the new textbooks have been available on the board’s website since March, teachers were waiting for clarity on the exam pattern, paper format and month-wise teaching schedule.The delay had created concern among teachers, particularly with the first term exams scheduled for Sep-Oct. In the absence of a blueprint, schools were facing difficulties in planning lessons and preparing question papers. There was also confusion regarding the distribution of marks between theory and practical exams.After the matter reached education department, the board announced the teaching framework. The delay of 64 days from the start of the academic session has drawn criticism from teachers.According to the new exam pattern, the first and second theory exams for the subject will carry 50 marks each, with questions in the multiple choice question (MCQ) format. For the annual exam, students will have an 80-mark MCQ-based theory paper along with 20 marks for internal assessment. The annual practical exam will carry 50 marks. For Class 9, the assessment structure will comprise 100 marks for the theory exam, 40 marks for practical exam and 20 marks for internal assessment.The board has also released question paper formats for subjects including yoga and physical training for Class 11.
