Jaipur: Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University set up 29 of its 30 exam centres for the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) in private colleges or institutions, despite having 51 affiliated govt Sanskrit colleges, after two centres reported mass cheating and their exams were cancelled. The only govt-run centre was on the university campus. No formal action has been taken so far against the private colleges where cheating was detected. On Tuesday, the university’s vigilance team caught students cheating during a surprise inspection at Vishwabharati College, Sikar. A similar inspection at MD PG College, Lalsot, on Aug 7 also found mass cheating.Vice-chancellor Prof Madanmohan Jha said the university’s examination board has been asked to set up a committee to investigate.“We have instructed the examination board of the university to form a committee and investigate the matter. As immediate action, the exams have been cancelled at both the centres. The committee will submit a report based on which action will be taken against the colleges. We have already decided that affiliations will be cancelled of both the institutes,” Jha said.He also said govt colleges will be considered for future exams so the sanctity of exams can be maintained. “Exam board committee will be told to check feasibility of setting up exam centres at govt institutes. Our aim is to control such incidents and ensure exams are conducted in a fair manner.”University sources said two more annual assessment exams — Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy and Shiksha Shastri (BEd) — are scheduled over the next two to three weeks.
