Navi Mumbai: Moving a step forward in expanding its wing of promoting competitive sports among the economically backward strata while giving opportunity to civic school students, the Sports and Cultural Department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation kicked off technical swimming training to students in its schools to help them develop skills and achieve excellence in the sport. A selection test for boys and girls from NMMC schools was conducted recently. A total of 110 boys and 62 girls participated. From the preliminary selection test, 21 boys and six girls were selected. “The next phase of advanced training will now be taken up,” said NMMC sports officer Revappa Gurav.
