Pune: Residents of various pockets in Hadapsar are irked by the erratic and low-pressure water supply in their taps since the last few months. They claimed that despite repeated follow-ups with the civic administration, supply has not improved, leading to daily hassles and forced dependency on water tankers.Irate residents recently submitted a fresh memorandum to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), demanding urgent measures to resolve the situation by Aug-end. They warned of a strong agitation if they fail to see any improvement in overall water availability.Local activist Prashant Surase, who has been following up the issue with PMC, said, “We have raised two main demands. First, start supply from new water tanks constructed each near the Hadapsar bus depot and Kale-Boratenagar areas, and second, install booster pumps at Tukai Tekdi tank to help provide more water to a larger area. The issues were raised with the civic body in March 2026, and a meeting was also held with officials, but there has been very little progress in improving water availability. PMC should note that many of these areas have been a part of its limits for the last 30 years, but are still deprived of adequate water.”Ganesh Jagtap, a resident of Hadapsar gaothan, said, “With the increasing population in and around Hadapsar, water availability will become even more of a major challenge in coming years. The infrastructure is very weak at present and needs a major boost. Localities like Hadapsar gaothan, Gadital, Satavwadi, Gondhalenagar, Akashwani, Laxmi Colony, Sasanenagar and Kale-Boratenagar are all deprived of proper water access. People are facing daily problems owing to low-pressure supply.”Local residents said that two overhead tanks with the capacity to store 35 lakh litres and 45 lakh litres of water, respectively, are ready — but the water pipeline network required to start operations from these tanks is still not in place.Officials from the PMC water supply department claimed that work in Hadapsar for the 24×7 water supply project had been affected due to some technical reasons earlier, but the issues have now been resolved and work has been expedited. “Supply has improved in some pockets in the last few months. We are looking ahead to finish laying of the pipeline in phases,” an official said.Another civic official, choosing anonymity, said, “We will check the technical aspects of installing booster pumps at the Tukai Tekdi overhead tank. Additional water tankers will be deployed as per requirements.”
