Bengal to announce new MSME policy with incentives, reforms

Kolkata: The state govt plans to announce a new policy for MSME industries within a month, MSME and textiles minister Dipak Barman on Wednesday said, while virtually inaugurating West Bengal MSME pavilion at Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026, New Delhi.“A new MSME policy will be prepared within a month. We plan to give some incentives to the MSME units. We will soon prepare an incentive policy also,” Barman said.Urging entrepreneurs to select Bengal as their destination, the minister stated, “We have taken up a policy decision to set up more industrial parks, but land has not been procured anywhere. We will also develop infrastructure in the existing industrial parks, ensuring all minimum basic facilities like road, water, power, etc., for setting up industries there. The govt is planning to remove the land ceiling and I think we will do it before next year.Highlighting govt’s plan for the MSME sector, the minister said that a one-window clearance system would be introduced.“The govt will also ensure to resolve various issues faced by the entrepreneurs, including law and order. I invite all entrepreneurs of India to come to Bengal. The state government is with you, and in future the state will become no. 1 in MSME,” Barman added.Govt plans to market and brand the state’s handicrafts and GI-tagged products in domestic and international markets, he said.
