Cops on toes after city schools receive bomb threat

Times News NetworkChandigarh: Several schools across the city received bomb threats on Tuesday, triggering a security alert and search operations by the Chandigarh Police and other security agencies. Some schools reportedly received threat emails.According to information received by the police control room, threats were reported to Vivek High School in Sector 38, Bhavan Vidyalaya in Sector 27, Carmel Convent School in Sector 9-B, St John’s High School and Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School in Sector 26, St Stephen’s School in Sector 45-B and Ryan International School in Sector 49.Police also received information about threat emails sent to DAV School in Sector 15, Ashiana Public School in Sector 26, Gurukul Global School in Manimajra, Ajit Singh School in Sectors 45 and 41, Ankur School on the Panjab University campus in Sector 14, The Tribune School, DAV School in Sector 45, DAV School in Sector 29, Saupin’s School in Sector 32-A, Sant Kabir School in Sector 26 and Shivalik School in Sector 42.Following the threats, police teams and security agencies conducted searches at the school premises concerned and surrounding areas. Police said no bomb, explosive material or suspicious object was found during the searches.The police have launched an investigation to trace the source of the threats. Threatening emails and information received through the police control room are being examined as part of the probe.
