Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath performed Rudrabhishek and prayed for happiness, prosperity and well-being of the people of the state at Mansarovar temple here on the occasion of Shrawan Shivratri, on Tuesday.The ritual was performed during the Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi of the holy month of Shrawan. It was the second consecutive day the chief minister performed Rudrabhishek during his visit to the city. On Monday, he performed the ritual at the Shaktipeeth inside the Gorakhnath temple.At the Mansarovar temple, Yogi offered ‘bilva’ leaves, lotus flowers, ‘durva’ grass and other traditional offerings to Lord Shiv before performing the ceremonial abhishek with honey, curd, sugar, cow milk and water.The Rudrabhishek was conducted by priests of the Gorakhnath temple amid the chanting of sacred mantras from the Rudrashtadhyayi of the Shukla Yajurveda Samhita.Following the ritual, Yogi performed ‘havan’ and ‘aarti’ amid Vedic chants, bringing the ceremony to a close.
