Kapurthala: Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, will roll out its first rake of 19 Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) broad gauge passenger coaches for Bangladesh Railway on Wednesday, including three AC sleeper cars, three AC chair cars, 11 non-AC chair cars and two power cars.RCF officials said the coaches have been customised to meet Bangladesh Railway’s operational and passenger requirements, with several design features incorporated for the first time in LHB coaches.The roof structure has been strengthened to withstand additional loads from passengers travelling on the roof during peak traffic periods, RCF said. The coaches also feature crashworthy provisions conforming to European Standard EN 15227.RCF’s association with Bangladesh Railway began with the supply of 120 LHB broad gauge passenger coaches in 2015-16. In 2024, Bangladesh Railway placed an order through RITES for 200 broad gauge passenger coaches in seven variants.
