Syama complex on 14.5-acre NT plot

Kolkata: The state govt has initiated the process to engage a consultant for preparing a detail architectural and engineering plan for setting up the proposed Syama Prasad Mookerjee memorial complex on 14.5 acres. The proposed complex will also include a 125 ft high statue of Mookerjee at Eco Park in New Town.“This will be the tallest statue of Mookerjee in the country,” officials said. The complex will serve as a major civic landmark and heritage tourism centre equipped with public amenities and green spaces to attract national and international visitors.The preliminary estimated project cost has been pegged at Rs 225 crore. The West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation, which is the nodal agency for executing the project, has initiated the process of hiring a consultant. Officials said as per the project concept, there will be visitor amenities and facilities, digital museum and spaces for cultural activities.
