Lucknow: A 25-year-old man was allegedly tied up and severely assaulted after he was caught meeting a married woman at her house in Khirwan Dera village of Kanpur Dehat.According to police, the man had gone to meet the woman at her residence late Thursday.However, neighbours grew suspicious and locked the house from outside, following which the woman allegedly hid the man in a wardrobe.When the woman’s in-laws returned on Friday morning, they searched the house and found the man inside the wardrobe. He was allegedly dragged out, tied up and assaulted. The woman was also assaulted by her in-laws when she tried to intervene.Videos of the incident later went viral on social media.Police said the woman’s in-laws subsequently handed over the man to the police. He was sent for medical examination and legal proceedings were initiated.Police said two FIRs have been registered in connection with the incident, one against the accused man for alleged trespassing and another against the woman’s relatives for allegedly assaulting him.“One of the accused seen assaulting the man has been arrested and sent to jail,” Kanpur Dehat SP Shraddha Narendra Pandey said.Locals claimed that the man and the woman had grown close over the past two months. Both belong to the Banjara community and are residents of the same village.
