Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao and BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Saturday condemned police behaviour at Saroornagar stadium, where a large number of unemployed youth came for the HYDRAA recruitment drive. Harish Rao demanded an apology from state govt for alleged police excesses during the drive.“The Congress govt, which failed to fill two lakh vacancies every year, has insulted the unemployed youth at the stadium,” the BRS leader said. Harish Rao said a huge turnout for the recruitment indicated the unemployment situation in the state. He said the “job calendar is a farce and only to cheat the youth”.BJP chief Ramchander Rao alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ was on full display and disturbing visuals emerged from Saroornagar stadium, where police were allegedly seen beating young job aspirants. “Using the police force to disperse the unemployed youth is deeply painful and condemnable,” Rao said in a statement.Congress sheds crocodile tears for the youth in Delhi, but in Telangana, its govt used police force on innocent unemployed youth after failing to fulfil the promises it made to the youth, he said, adding that before coming to power, Congress had made grand assurances of a job calendar, large-scale employment opportunities, unemployment allowance and comprehensive support for young people.“But, even after two and a half years, the youth of Telangana are still waiting for implementation of promised commitments. The promised Rs 4,000 monthly unemployment allowance remains an illusion; the proposed Youth Commission has not delivered; and the assurance of Rs 10 lakh interest-free financial assistance to youth remains unimplemented. The promised job calendar and employment opportunities have failed to match the expectations created by Congress itself,” he added.
