Wall collapses on parked vehicles in south Delhi’s Deoli amid heavy rain, 8-10 vehicles damaged

New Delhi: A wall at a parking area in south Delhi’s Deoli collapsed Friday evening, allegedly due to waterlogging following heavy rainfall, damaging around 8 to 10 parked vehicles. The incident was reported around 5 pm. Locals alleged that poor drainage in the area had led to water accumulating around the site. Police and Delhi Fire Service (DFS) checked the vehicles, and no person was found trapped inside. One of the vehicle owners told reporters that such an incident had never occurred at the parking area before. “I have been parking my car here for eight years,” he said. He further claimed that ongoing construction work near a sewer in the area had worsened waterlogging in the locality.Visuals from the spot showed bricks and debris from the collapsed wall scattered across the vehicles, with the front portions, bonnets and roofs of several cars damaged. Some vehicles appeared to have suffered extensive damage after being struck by the falling masonry. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.Police have initiated an inquiry to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the collapse and determine whether waterlogging or other factors contributed to the structural failure.
