‘Moderate to heavy rain likely on Thurs, Fri’
Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 31.7°C on Saturday

Kolkata: A low-pressure area has formed over the southern part of Bengal and north Odisha which could trigger light to moderate showers in south Bengal. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind is likely at some places in North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura, said a bulletin issued by RMC on Saturday.An upper air circulation has also formed over south Bengal. This has been supplemented by the monsoon trough that now passes over Digha. Under these systems, south Bengal could receive consistent rain till Aug 14. A heavy rain warning has been issued for South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore on Aug 13 and 14. The city could receive moderate to heavy rain during the period. Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 31.7°C and a minimum of 25.2°C.North Bengal, on the other hand, received heavy rain and thunderstorms on Saturday. Heavy showers are likely to continue at one or two places in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar till Aug 13.
