Gujarat government announces relief package for flood-hit small businesses in Ahmedabad
Heavy deluge last month triggered flood-like conditions across several parts of the city

Ahmedabad: The state govt has announced a special financial assistance and rehabilitation package to support micro, small, and medium units hit by severe flooding this July. Heavy deluge last month triggered flood-like conditions across several parts of the city, including Bopal, inflicting heavy losses on local businesses. To ensure swift distribution of relief within Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) limits, civic authorities have set up dedicated area assistance committees across municipal zones. These committees will oversee application verification, inter-departmental coordination, and final aid approvals under state govt guidelines. Each zone’s area assistance committee will be chaired by its respective deputy municipal commissioner. The panel will include the assistant municipal commissioner, deputy medical officer of health, state tax department deputy commissioner (VAT), local mamlatdar, and the zonal assessment and recovery officer. AMC’s deputy commissioner of the tax and non-tax department has been named nodal officer to oversee operations across all zonal committees.Additionally, a taluka/zone-level assistance committee will process and disburse lump-sum cash grants directly to verified beneficiaries.Eligible owners and operators of flood-affected commercial units must submit their applications online through the official AMC portal at www.ahmedabadcity.gov.in.
