SP Jaipur (Rural) Hanuman Prasad Meena said the private school bus, carrying nearly 40 students along with a driver, conductor and a school staff member, was struck by the Scorpio, which was travelling from Chittorgarh towards Khatu Shyamji town in Sikar. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to overturn, trapping several students inside the bus.Locals rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with the help of police, pulling the students out before shifting them to Jobner Community Health Centre.Police said 18 students sustained injuries. Some suffered fractures, while two had head injuries and another injured an arm. Eight children with multiple injuries were referred to hospitals in Jaipur after primary treatment, while the remaining students were treated locally. Occupants of the Scorpio also suffered injuries in the crash. “All of them are out of danger,” the SP said.Eyewitnesses said after hearing a loud impact, they rushed to the scene and began rescuing children much before emergency services arrived. The accident led to a traffic jam on Jobner-Mahla road that connects to Jaipur-Ajmer national highway. Police later removed the damaged vehicles, restored traffic and seized both the bus and the Scorpio for investigation.Preliminary findings suggest the Scorpio went out of control before crashing into the school bus. Police said the exact cause of the accident would be established after a detailed investigation.
