Cycle rally takes drug-free society message to city homes
Cycle rally aimed to spread awareness against substance abuse

Lucknow: Around 150 staff members of Jan Bhavan participated in a cycle rally on Saturday to spread awareness against substance abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.The rally was flagged off from Jan Bhavan by Governor Anandiben Patel and it passed through various localities in the city before concluding at its starting point. Participants carried the message of a drug-free society and urged people, especially the youth, to stay away from substance abuse.At different stops along the route, participants interacted with residents and highlighted the social, economic and health-related consequences of drug addiction. They also appealed to families and community members to play an active role in preventing substance abuse.Officials said the campaign reflects UP govt’s emphasis on expanding anti-drug awareness efforts through public participation rather than limiting them to official programmes. The rally drew attention from residents along its route and sought to reinforce the message of collective responsibility in creating a healthier society.State prohibition officer R L Rajvanshi said the objective of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is to make every section of society aware of the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage people to adopt a drug-free lifestyle.“Through the cycle rally, a message was conveyed that every citizen has an important role in building a healthy, safe and drug-free society,” he said.Among those present on the occasion were Sudhir M Bobde, officer on special duty of the governor, councillors Nagendra Chauhan and Amit Chaudhary, besides several other dignitaries and public representatives.
