Bhilwara: Rajasthan Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar Saturday accused the previous Congress govt of “selling” exam papers and “ruining” the state’s education system, targeting former CM Ashok Gehlot and Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara during a visit to Bhilwara.“Papers were not leaked; papers were sold,” Dilawar told reporters after a tree plantation programme at Government Polytechnic College. He alleged the then Congress govt “earned money by selling papers repeatedly”.Dilawar also attacked the Congress govt’s English-medium school policy, saying Gehlot had “lied” about opening English schools. “They merely put English signboards on Hindi-medium schools and deceived people,” he said.Taking aim at Gehlot and Dotasara, Dilawar said they were “like a frustrated cat scratching a pole”, adding that they were criticising the BJP govt because “development is taking place in Rajasthan” and the education sector was improving.He also referred to allegations around teacher transfers, saying, “In front of Ashok Gehlot himself, teachers said Dotasara takes a lot of money for transfers; what more evidence can I give against Gehlot and Dotasara than this.”On Panchayati Raj elections, Dilawar said the OBC Commission had submitted its report to the govt and that the state was ready for civic body and panchayat polls. “Issuing the notification is the Election Commission’s work, and it will be issued at the right time,” he said, claiming the BJP’s flag would fly in the elections.Dilawar said the govt would fulfil its assurance on transfers of third-grade teachers.Earlier, the minister performed abhishek at the Harni Mahadev temple near Bhilwara city and took part in the plantation drive. Urging people to plant more trees during the monsoon, he said plants were essential for oxygen and claimed one tree provides oxygen worth Rs 30 lakh in a year while helping reduce pollution.Bhilwara MP Damodar Agrawal, former MLA Vitthal Shankar Awasthi, district public representatives, officials and members of social organisations were present.
