'STR51' delay EXPLAINED: Archana Kalpathi clarifies why Silambarasan’s film with Ashwath Marimuthu is taking time

Silambarasan is currently juggling multiple interesting projects, but his next collaboration with ‘Dragon’ director Ashwath Marimuthu has been the subject of growing curiosity. With fans waiting for an official update on when the project will begin, there have also been questions about whether Simbu’s ongoing work in ‘Arasan’ has caused a delay. Producer Archana Kalpathi has now addressed the situation and made it clear that the wait is not because of any issue involving Silambarasan or ‘Arasan.’

Archana Kalpathi breaks silence in ‘STR51‘ delay

Speaking about the project in a YouTube chat with Chitra Lakshamanan, Archana Kalpathi explained that the team is still working according to the original plan. “I hope we will start shooting the film next year. It depends on when Ashwath Marimuthu completes Rajinikanth’s film. There is no problem with Ashwath Marimuthu’s film because of ‘Arasan.’ He had planned to do both simultaneously,” she said. The producer also pointed out that she has known Simbu for a long time and understands his approach to choosing scripts. According to her, Ashwath needed additional time to complete the writing, which was one of the main reasons behind the extended wait.

Maker reveals why ‘STR51’ script took time

Archana further explained that the team has no plans to rush the writing process. “Once he finishes writing the story, there will not be any changes to the screenplay because he gets everything right on paper itself. That is why Simbu also told us to give him the time he needs,” she stated. She added that Simbu agreed to take up Arasan during this period, while Ashwath also received another major opportunity. “Around that time, Ashwath got the Dharman opportunity. It is a big opportunity, and everyone is happy about it. Once he completes that, we will start the work on STR51,” Archana said. Her clarification suggests that the delay is mainly linked to Ashwath’s commitments and the time required to develop the script.

About ‘STR51’

The upcoming project, tentatively referred to as ‘STR51,’ marks Silambarasan’s collaboration with Ashwath Marimuthu, who has already earned attention with ‘Oh My Kadavule’ and ‘Dragon.’ Both films were well received, and ‘Dragon’ was also a huge commercial success. Meanwhile, Simbu is busy with ‘Arasan’ directed by Vetri Maaran and is expected to wrap up the last leg of the shoot soon. The actor has also been linked to a number of other projects in recent years. Since Ashwath Marimuthu is busy with his commitments and is taking additional time to perfect the script, ‘STR51’ is now expected to move forward once he wraps up his existing projects.
