Hyderabad: A delegation of Telangana Congress MPs met Union minister JP Nadda and expressed concern over the Centre’s reported reduction in subsidy on Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer, saying the move could increase input costs for farmers and adversely impact the agricultural sector.The MPs urged the Centre to review the decision and ensure that farmers are not burdened by a rise in fertilizer prices. They said DAP is one of the most widely used fertilizers during the crop season and any increase in its price would have a direct impact on cultivation expenses.The delegation also sought uninterrupted supply of fertilizers to Telangana during the ongoing agricultural season. They stressed the need to maintain adequate stocks to meet farmers’ requirements and prevent shortages.The MPs requested the Union govt to take steps to safeguard farmers’ interests and continue support through appropriate subsidy mechanisms.Nadda is learnt to have assured the delegation that the concerns raised by Telangana farmers would be examined and necessary steps taken to ensure smooth availability of fertilizers.
