Ahmedabad: Banaskantha, Patan, Ahmedabad and Kutch commenced their campaign with contrasting victories on the opening day of the Junior Girls Inter-District Football Tournament 2026, on Friday. The tournament is being played at the Sports Authority of Gujarat (SAG) complex in Vadnagar.A total of 10 districts are participating in the tournament. The teams have been divided into three groups. Group A comprises Rajkot, Banaskantha, Patan, and Valsad. Group B consists of Ahmedabad, Surat, and Bharuch. Group C includes Kutch, Baroda, and Bhavnagar.In Friday’s matches, Banaskantha comfortably defeated Rajkot, and Patan secured an easy win over Valsad. Ahmedabad eased past Surat 4–1 with three goals from Lakshmi Saroj and one from Pasi Kajal. Payal Damor scored the lone goal for Surat. In the final match of the day, Kutch stunned Baroda by a solitary goal, with Bhambhaniya Ninaben netting the only goal.Valsad plays Banaskantha while Rajkot take on Patan in Saturday’s matches. In the south Gujarat derby, Surat plays Bharuch, while, in the final match of the day, Baroda take on Bhavnagar.
