Jaipur: A 78-year-old woman lodged a complaint with the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) after she was injured in an encounter with stray cattle in Tilak Nagar Thursday morning.

The woman, identified as Anand Ashiya, said she was walking on Gyan Marg around 11am when she came across a herd of 10-12 cows and bulls roaming freely on the road. She collided with one of the animals, suffered injuries and had to seek medical care.“I rushed to a medical centre for treatment. Despite specific norms governing stray cattle on city roads, some officials fail to act as they are allegedly hand in glove with owners of illegal dairies. The worst part was that when I tried to lodge a complaint on the numbers listed on JMC website, none of them was functional,” Ashiya alleged.She later submitted a written complaint to JMC deputy commissioner (Gaushala) Karni Singh and forwarded it to municipal commissioner Om Prakash Kasera.The incident has once again drawn attention to the growing menace of stray cattle on Jaipur roads, an issue repeatedly highlighted after several accidents involving cows and bulls.JMC officials said they acted on the complaint and identified dairies operating in residential colonies behind Moti Doongri Ganesh Temple, off Vijay Path. The dairy owners were cautioned and directed to keep their animals from straying onto roads.“We will launch a citywide drive next week. If stray cattle are found posing a threat, they will be seized,” a JMC official said.
