Man arrested for performing vehicle stunt on road

Varanasi: Police arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly endangering public safety by performing vehicle stunts on a public road in the Jansa area on Thursday.During patrolling near Harsos Ring Road, the Jansa police team spotted a vehicle, being driven at high speed in reverse gear on the wrong side of the road. Police said the act posed a serious risk to pedestrians and other road users.The police stopped the vehicle and questioned the driver, who identified himself as Veer Bahadur Singh Patel, a resident of Ganjari village. He failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his conduct and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. A co-passenger, Vijay Patel, 33, of Benipur village under Mirzamurad police station area, also appeared to be intoxicated.Police said the driver could not produce the required vehicle documents. A check through the e-challan app found that the vehicle was registered in the name of Satish Chandra, a resident of Ramgarh in the Chandwak area of Jaunpur district.Patel was arrested for dangerous and negligent driving on a public road. The vehicle was seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act for non-production of valid documents.A case has been registered under Sections 281 and 125 of the BNS at Jansa police station, and further legal action is underway.
