Mumbai: A teen was detained by Kasturba Marg police for stealing jewellery and electronics worth Rs 3 lakh from a house in Borivli (E). Police said the owner of the house, Balram Tiwari, saw the teen escape from the window and chased him till plain-clothes personnel caught hold of him on the street.The incident occurred early on Aug 5. Tiwari and his family were asleep at their residence in Daulat Nagar, Borivli. Suddenly, Tiwari woke up after his wife raised an alarm. He noticed a youngster slipping out of the window. Tiwari immediately opened the door and ran into the lane to chase the thief. His son, Satyam (21) joined him in the chase. The two men kept yelling “chor, chor”.On reaching the main road, a group of plain-clothes policemen caught hold of the thief. They inquired of Tiwari, who came up panting. He explained that the youngster had committed a theft at his residence and was fleeing. The police took the teen to Kasturba Marg police station. On examining him, police found jewellery and electronics worth Rs 2.7 lakh. He told the police that his associate, Laxman (19) had the rest of the stolen valuables. Police said both boys reside on the pavement near Mira Road station.An FIR was registered against both the boys and the police are looking for Laxman and the rest of the loot.
