Gurgaon: MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya has been transferred as part of Haryana govt’s latest IAS reshuffle, ending his tenure at the civic body even as govt is yet to announce his successor.Dahiya, a 2013-batch IAS officer, has been posted as Rohtak deputy commissioner. He will replace Sachin Gupta, who has been transferred as Ambala deputy commissioner. Dahiya had joined as MCG commissioner on May 5 last year.Notably, govt has not yet issued orders regarding who will take charge as the next MCG commissioner. A senior Haryana govt official said a fresh order is expected by Saturday as part of a larger administrative reshuffle, which is likely to include appointments to several key positions across the state.Officials described the transfer as a routine administrative exercise, noting that Dahiya had completed a tenure of around 15 months, broadly in line with the tenure of his predecessors as MCG commissioner.However, his transfer comes at a crucial juncture for the civic body, which is grappling with monsoon-related challenges while also awaiting elections to the posts of senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor.During his tenure, Dahiya spearheaded several technology-driven initiatives aimed at modernising civic administration and improving municipal revenues.During his tenure, MCG introduced artificial intelligence-based systems to engage with taxpayers through AI-enabled tools and streamline property tax recovery, a move aimed at enhancing revenue.The corporation also deployed AI-powered road audit technology using cameras and sensors to detect potholes, damaged road markings, encroachments and other civic defects for maintenance and monitoring.The civic body reported record property tax collections during the 2025-26 financial year and attributed part of the improvement to technology-led interventions and intensified recovery efforts.Apart from revenue reforms, Dahiya introduced a cluster-based administrative structure within MCG to decentralise governance by administratively dividing the city into eight zones.With Dahiya’s exit, the focus will now shift to whom Haryana govt appoints to head one of the state’s most high-profile municipal corporations, especially as the city continues to grapple with monsoon-related challenges, infrastructure projects and pending civic issues.
