Nagaland CEO asks political parties to appoint BLAs for smooth SIR

Dimapur: Nagaland chief electoral officer Bhagyashree Banayat on Thursday asked political parties to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs), if they have not already done so, to ensure the smooth conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the state.At a meeting with political parties in Kohima, Banayat stressed the importance of BLAs and briefed participants on key aspects of the SIR, including training, printing of enumeration forms and other procedures.Representatives of the BJP, INC and Naga People’s Front attended the meeting.The qualifying date for the SIR in Nagaland is Oct 1. Preparation, training and printing have been scheduled from Aug 5 to 14. House-to-house visits by booth-level officers (BLOs) will be carried out from Aug 16 to Sept 14. Rationalisation of polling stations is scheduled for Sept 14.The draft electoral roll will be published on Sept 20, and claims and objections may be filed from Sept 20 to Oct 20.The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will run from Sept 20 to Nov 18, and the final electoral roll will be published on Nov 22.
