Varanasi: The district is set to celebrate the spirit of patriotism with a week-long Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from Aug 9 to 17, featuring Tiranga Yatras, flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes and public awareness drives across the district. The campaign aims to deepen respect for the National Flag, inspire greater public participation and connect the younger generation with the history and values of the Tricolour.DM Satyendra Kumar reviewed the preparations for the campaign at a meeting on Wednesday. He said the initiative aims to strengthen respect for the Tricolour, connect youth and students with its history and values, and encourage public participation in the national celebration.He directed officials to identify prominent locations for Tricolour exhibitions and complete arrangements for Tiranga Yatras at the district and block levels. Programmes will also be organised at martyrs’ memorials, schools and other institutions.Flag-hoisting ceremonies will be held at govt offices, Panchayat Bhawans, schools, colleges and other institutions. Activities such as Tiranga Yatras, Prabhat Pheris, bicycle and motorcycle rallies, essay writing, painting, speech, quiz and cultural competitions will be conducted in schools.Tribute programmes at martyrs’ memorials and cleanliness drives will also be organised with the participation of self-help groups, voluntary organisations and public representatives.Kumar instructed officials to spread awareness about the correct protocol for hoisting the national flag. He said damaged, torn or dirty flags should not be used. The flag must not be used for decoration, as a tablecloth, clothing or for commercial promotion. After the campaign, flags should be properly preserved or disposed of respectfully.
