Jaipur: Hanumangarh police have launched a Safe City Mission to identify drug consumption hotspots, dismantle open narcotics hubs and improve safety in public spaces. As part of the campaign, police Wednesday also introduced a dedicated women’s helpline to encourage confidential reporting of drug trafficking and other criminal activities.Hanumangarh SP B Aditya said the district-wide campaign, launched on July 25, aims to make the district drug-free and crime-free. Police have identified deserted stretches, abandoned buildings, vacant plots, garbage dumping sites and other vulnerable locations where drug abuse and anti-social activities were frequently reported.“We are integrating AI tools to geo-tag such locations and expand surveillance of places where drug consumption is taking place openly,” Aditya said.In the first phase, police deployed 10 motorcycles and constituted a 20-member special team to conduct regular patrols and raids at identified hotspots.To encourage public participation, particularly among women, police launched a dedicated women’s helpline (8764876051). Women can report suspected drug trafficking, illegal narcotics trade and other criminal activities through a missed call, phone call or WhatsApp message.Police said the helpline will be operated by a woman police officer to encourage confidential reporting. Even if a caller gives only a missed call, officers will call back, collect information and initiate action. The identity of informants will be kept confidential.Aditya appealed to women across the district to actively support the campaign, saying public participation is crucial to achieving the goal of a drug-free and crime-free Hanumangarh.Following encouraging results at the district headquarters, police have expanded the campaign to rural areas. Officials said action has so far been taken against around 100 suspected drug users and offenders, while nearly 30 locations have been identified as drug consumption hotspots.Police said repeated raids and continuous monitoring have significantly reduced open drug use at these locations. Residents have also reported an improved sense of security, with areas previously frequented by anti-social elements becoming noticeably safer.
