New Delhi: Delhi Police has filed a police investigation report (PIR) before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) against a 16-year-old boy in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old boy at an eatery in southeast Delhi’s Amar Colony.Sources said the PIR was filed on July 30. In the report, investigators detailed the sequence of events leading up to the incident, stating that the boy had gone to Amar Colony with his female friend for dinner when the episode unfolded.The primary eyewitness in the case is the victim’s 16-year-old female friend. In her statement to police, she said on May 26, she had gone to meet a classmate at Vikram Vihar around 6.30pm. The victim, who was also part of their friend circle, joined them.After spending some time at their friend’s house, the two left for a nearby eatery in Amar Colony while their classmate headed to the gym. They ordered food and were eating when, around 7.30pm, three unidentified youths approached their table.According to the witness, one of the youths began tampering with an empty chair placed next to her. When the 17-year-old objected, the youth started abusing and threatening him. Sensing that the situation was escalating, the boy asked his friend to finish eating quickly so they could leave. The trio walked away briefly but returned moments later.As per the witness, one of the youths came from behind and shot the boy in the back of his head with the intention of killing him. When other customers at the restaurant attempted to stop the attackers, the three allegedly brandished firearms and fled the scene.The witness told investigators that she rushed the injured boy to Moolchand Hospital, where he lost consciousness. Despite undergoing treatment, he succumbed days later.Police officers who reached the spot after receiving information about the shooting found a fired 7.65 mm cartridge case on a table outside the restaurant, along with a large pool of blood near the scene.During the investigation, cops apprehended the 16-year-old, alleging that he had fired the shot. Two other suspects were also arrested in connection with the case. The FIR was initially registered under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Following the victim’s death, the offence was converted into a case of murder, and the investigation was subsequently transferred to the crime branch. Cops also moved an application in JJB to try the teenager as an adult.
