Guwahati: Nagaland cabinet minister Temjen Imna Along on Wednesday said the Nagaland govt has taken Assam’s concerns over the alleged role of mining activities in the state in worsening downstream floods “seriously” and assured that the issue would be examined.“We have consideration of whatever the honourable chief minister of Assam has conveyed. And we are very sure that the chief ministers of both states are in touch with regard to all the natural calamities that are happening around,” Along told media.He said that Nagaland is also equally suffering from recent natural calamities. “Landslides, rivers and bridges have gone, houses have been completely demolished, lives have been lost, livelihoods have been completely rattled. Nagaland is also facing that in a very big manner.”He added, “In the same way, for Assam’s flood, we have no immediate remedial measures, and we cannot blame each other for anything. We have to take collective measures, and the state govt of Nagaland under Dr Neiphiu Rio’s leadership is considering all these issues.”He said that the Nagaland cabinet, which is meeting in Wokha on Thursday, will be deliberating on this issue.“We are very responsible people. We do not make any comments here and there. We pray that honourable members in Assam also will consider that we are people chosen to facilitate and to make sure that the pain of our people is relieved, not blaming each other for anything that is there,” he said.He also said, “And we know how sentiments are hurt. So Nagaland state chooses to be responsible. We are a small state. We pray for the victims and the people of Assam in every way. We pray that the same would happen for the people of Nagaland.”
