Ahmedabad: To promote scientific temper, research aptitude, and innovation among students, Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GujCOST) has commenced the registration process for National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2026. The programme, open to students aged 10 to 17 years, encourages them to study local problems scientifically and propose practical solutions.GujCOST is coordinating the initiative at the state level. Since 2014, the programme has been organised at district and state levels, providing thousands of students an opportunity to showcase their research-based projects and scientific talent.The theme for this year’s congress is “Science and Innovation for Sustainability.” Students can develop projects in five key areas: waste management, energy, water conservation, food-agriculture-health, and Indian knowledge systems.Students in Classes 6 to 12, as well as out-of-school children in the 10-17 age group, can participate by forming a two-member team under a teacher’s guidance. Selected projects at the district level will advance to the state level, and 26 best entries will represent Gujarat at the national competition.Students and teachers can register for free by Aug 15. GujCOST will also assist innovative projects in securing intellectual property rights through its intellectual property facilitation centre.
